Don’t Come to Mexico if…” started as a joke- and turned into a movement.

Don’t Come to Mexico If started as a few casual observations about life south of the border — the kind that make locals laugh, expats blush, and everyone else say, “Wait… seriously?”

We noticed a pattern: Americans (and other newcomers) arrive in Mexico with love and curiosity — but also a suitcase full of assumptions. Some harmless, some hilarious, and some that make locals quietly roll their eyes.

This project is our way of bridging that gap — with humor, honesty, and a genuine appreciation for Mexican culture.

We’re not here to criticize Americans or lecture anyone about how to behave. We’re here to show what respect looks like in real life, one “Who Knew?” moment at a time.

What We Believe

Living in Mexico isn’t about “escaping” the U.S. or chasing cheap margaritas.
It’s about learning, adapting, and understanding that different doesn’t mean wrong.

Cultural awareness starts with curiosity — not judgment.

Small things (like tipping right or saying “buen provecho”) make a big difference.

The more you understand Mexico, the more you fall in love with it.

We also believe laughter helps everything go down easier — even bureaucracy, even culture shock, even CFE bills.

We love Mexico. And we believe that if you want to call it home, even temporarily, you owe it the respect of learning how it really works.

Our goal isn’t to shame foreigners-it’s to educate, entertain, and bridge the cultural gap with humor and honesty.

Every post, article, and guide on this site comes from the same idea:

If you wouldn’t do it at home, don’t do it here-unless the locals do it first.

Why It Matters
